Events and News on the Shen/Somerville Climate Mathematics Book

• 2024:
  January 30, 2024: The book “Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications” authored by Professors Shen and Somerville was displayed at the American Meteorological Society's annual meeting at Baltimore, January 29 - February 1, 2024. Professor Shen had a photo with his book readers in front of the Cambridge University Press (CUP)'s exhibition booth at the meeting on January 30, 2024. CUP's booth also displayed Professor Shen's another book: "Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications" by S.S.P. Shen and R.C.J. Somerville.

• 2023:
  The book “Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications” has been exhibited at many international conferences and meetings, such as the fall meetings of the American Geophysical Union, the annual meetings of the American Meteorological Society, the general assemblies of the European Geosciences Union.
• 2021:
  September 30, 2021, Professors Shen and Somerville made a public presentation at the University of Maryland: How can we modernize mathematics education in atmospheric and oceanic science? Here are the videos of the presentation: Part 1 , and Part 2 .
• 2020:
  December 4, 2020, The Python-Version Solutions Manual for Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications was completed. It is available to verified course instructors from the Cambridge University Press.
• 2020:
  February 17-20, 2020, Ocean Sciences Meeting 2020, San Diego The book “Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications” was featured at the booth of Cambridge University Press. Professor Sam Shen, a co-author of the book, appeared at the site to sign books.
• 2020:
  January 2020, American Meteorological Society published an article entitled “The Changing Math of Atmospheric Sciences”, an interview with Samuel Shen and Richard Somerville by the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, Volume 101, No. 1, Pages 65-67.
• 2019:
  October 8-9, 2019, The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) annual members meeting at Boulder, Colorado displayed the book “Climate Mathematics: Theory and Applications” at the registration and coffee break area. Professor Sam Shen, a co-author of the book, appeared at the site.
